Richard H. Wooster, attorney at law

Richard H. Wooster was born in Detroit, Michigan in April of 1956.

He was admitted to the Washington State Bar, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1983 and the United States Supreme Court in 1991.

He graduated from Western Michigan University with a B.B.A. in 1978, went on to attend graduate school in economics at Wayne State University, and obtained a Juris Doctor in 1983 from the University of Puget Sound/Seattle University School of Law.

At Kram & Wooster, P.S. in Tacoma, WA, his practice is primarily litigation with an emphasis in labor and employment law. Other practice areas include general corporate law, municipal law, personal injury, construction claims, and estate planning.

After law school, Richard worked for a group of maritime related companies handling all aspects of their businesses that involved risk management.

He worked as a Pierce County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the civil division until 1991 when he joined Mann, King, Bingham & Scraggin as a partner.

Richard's background in business and litigation provides insight for business owners regarding legal systems that will protect them from liability and claims.
For over 39 years, Richard has worked with the intricacies of labor and employment law representing individuals, businesses, and government organizations. Whether it's negotiating a collective bargaining agreement, investigating and defending a claim of discrimination, prosecuting a discrimination charge, handling an Employment Security issue, or defending a lawsuit or grievance arbitration Richard understands how to enforce his clients' best interests.
Richard has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in claims brought under civil rights laws, protecting their constitutional and federal rights against improper government action. He has worked extensively in this area of law from the time he was a law clerk for a major law firm during law school.
Richard has served the Washington State Bar Association, handling attorney disciplinary matters as Special Disciplinary Counsel, and mentoring attorneys on the ethical practice of law and proper practice procedures.
Richard is a member of the American Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association, and the American Inns of Court.
